Playa de Fañabé is the great all-rounder of Costa Adeje — a long, groomed sweep of golden sand backed by one of the finest seafront promenades in southern Tenerife. How to get there
Fañabé sits at the heart of Costa Adeje, fronting a solid line of resort hotels, and is around half an hour by road from Tenerife South airport. It's beautifully easy to reach on foot, as the seafront promenade links it seamlessly to the neighbouring beaches along the coast. Local buses and taxis serve the resort well, and there's parking in the area, though the closest spaces fill quickly in high season. For most visitors staying in Costa Adeje, the beach is simply a short stroll from the door.

What it's like
The beach is broad, level and immaculately maintained, its golden sand raked clean and the whole stretch backed by that superb palm-lined promenade. The paseo is one of Fañabé's greatest assets — a long, flat walkway that runs for miles along the coast, perfect for a morning jog, an evening stroll or an ice-cream wander past the shops and terraces. The atmosphere is lively and holiday-bright but relaxed, with families, couples and older visitors all comfortably at home.

Swimming and safety
Swimming here is easy and reassuring. The water is generally calm and clean, shelving gradually, so it's comfortable for children to paddle and for adults to swim without drama on most days. The beach is well managed with lifeguard cover in season. As always on the Atlantic, conditions can change, so keep an eye on the flag system and any lifeguard guidance, and take normal care with waves and currents when the sea is livelier.
The promenade behind Fañabé connects a whole string of beaches — you can walk from here to several neighbouring bays in either direction, making it easy to find a quieter or livelier patch to suit your mood.
Facilities
Facilities are excellent and comprehensive. You'll find neat rows of sunbeds and parasols to hire, showers and toilets, and lifeguards in season, plus watersports operators offering everything from pedalos to jet skis. The promenade behind the sand is packed with cafés, bars, restaurants, ice-cream stops and shops, so you need bring almost nothing with you. It's one of the best-equipped beaches on the island for a hassle-free day, and everything is within a few steps of your towel.

Fañabé is made for families and for anyone who wants a comfortable, fully serviced beach with calm water and endless amenities. It suits couples, older visitors and groups equally, and it's the natural choice if you're staying in Costa Adeje and want a reliable base for lazy beach days. If you're after five-star polish and beach-club glamour, the smart sands of Playa del Duque lie just up the coast; for wilder scenery you'll want to look further afield.

You're superbly placed here. The elegant Playa del Duque is a short walk north along the promenade, and the whole of Costa Adeje unfolds around you with its restaurants, shopping and marina.
