La Gomera

La Gomera is the second least populated of the Canary Islands and has a population of just under 20,000 people. Most inhabitants live in the capital San Sebastian. The island's highest mountain is Alto deGarajonaj which extends 1487 meters above sea level.

La Gomera is perfect for hiking and have included a fantastic fredet laurel forest called Bosque del Cedro. The island is otherwise characterized by 2 names. Oppdageren Christopher Columbus and the Norwegian ship owner Fred Olsen. Columbud used the island as their last base before he sailed across the Atlantic on its journey to America and much of the island's history revolves around this. Shipowner Fred Olsen owns a large part of the island and has invested a lot in which among other things, in the form of ferry lines and hotels. He is seen by many as a major benefactor of the island.
