El Hierro
El Hierro is the westernmost and smallest of the inhabited Canary Islands. The island has in excess of 10,000 inhabitants, where more than half live in the town of Valverde. The islands highest point is Malpaso located 1501 meters above sea level.
El Hierro was before America was discovered regarded as the world's westernmost point. The island has a small airport and some limited tourism.
